A few months ago we ventured to invest in a cabin built about three or four years ago by a Frenchman named Mika. Everyone in the area knows it as Mika's hut, so in honor of him, we will continue to call it that.
One thing that is amazing about this cabin is the open space upstairs and the view of the eternal green. Plus the prime location close to downtown Torio and our growing little neighborhood life.
This cabin is built with a light structure with H beams and carriages. Finished in three types of wood, loquat on the floor and mountain pine on the walls. Light zinc roofs and cement kitchen floor.

REMODELING IDEA:
The cabin was quite deteriorated and had not been maintained for years. The structure of the house needed to be reinforced since they omitted a couple of beams at the time of construction. For this, we completely remodeled the downstairs to add a couple of rooms, laundry and bathroom. For the new addition we chose clay and cement blocks for columns and tie beams.

On the second floor we also did a major remodeling since the master bedroom was in the back of the house, quite dark with little window and the bathroom was in the front with the best view. We did a complete flip of the layout and remodeled the bathroom to make it more open. In the master bedroom a large panoramic window to enjoy the view and in the kitchen we opened windows on both walls. We also covered the ceiling underneath with a white zinc to continue with the continuity of the existing material but to give it a more finished look, taking the opportunity to put insulation in between.

This is a small review and memory of what it was before our intervention. Now we are living there but we are not ready to show the final result, we still need some doors, furniture and decorative lamps to be able to finish it.
On my instagram I have a highlight of #mikacabin and there some of the building process.
In a couple of months I will publish the after of this beautiful tropical cabin.
